     Current College of Journalism and Mass Communications students interested in enrolling in JOUR102-The Art of Writing are required to pass the "Grammar Slammer" exam prior to enrolling in the course. Following is the procedure for taking the 50-item exam and registering for JOUR 102.

* Report to Andersen Hall 147 to obtain test pass and a study guide.

Take pass to Burnett 127 (Edu Testing Center) to take the exam. Hours for the testing center area:

  • Monday through Thursday 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.
  • Fridays 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
  • Sundays 1:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.

* The exam is a 30-minute timed test of basic grammar and punctuation. Students receive their test scores immediately upon completion of the exam.

* Students who pass the exam should report to Andersen Hall 147 to obtain the call number for JOUR 102. Students who do not pass the exam must wait two weeks before attempting the exam again.
