UNL Architecture Students Show Plans for Energy Research Building

showcase site University of Nebraska-Lincoln College of Architecture students enrolled in Architecture 410 ("tectonics") will present 15 proposals for a new Nebraska Center for Energy Sciences Research from 12:30 to 5 p.m. Dec. 6. The project's final jury will be in Room 210 of Architecture Hall, 10th and R streets. The jury includes architecture faculty and practitioners, and review by the public.

Course instructor Chris Ford said the proposals may play a provocative role in the future planning of such a free-standing research facility, especially considering the emerging issues of energy consumption, conservation, and generation. The Nebraska Center for Energy Sciences Research is a new collaborative endeavor between the Nebraska Public Power District and UNL. The center will foster research and education in energy sciences by encouraging collaboration among faculty and other public- and private-sector organizations working in energy sciences. more...
